  • 4 Tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 medium sweet onion, thinly sliced
  • 3 Tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet brown gravy mix
  • 2.5 cups low sodium beef broth
  • 1 Tablespoon ketchup
  • 1 Tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 0.5 Tablespoon dijon mustard
  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. Melt the butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  2. Add the sliced sweet onions and sauté until soft and caramelized, about 5-7 minutes.
  3. Sprinkle the flour over the onions and cook for 1 minute, stirring constantly to create a roux.
  4. Whisk in the beef broth, brown gravy mix, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, dijon mustard, and black pepper.
  5. Bring the mixture to a simmer, stirring until the gravy begins to thicken.
  6. Add the frozen meatballs to the skillet, stirring to coat them thoroughly in the gravy.
  7. Reduce the heat to low, cover the skillet, and simmer for 10-12 minutes or until the meatballs are heated through and the sauce has reached your desired consistency.

Notes

For extra flavor, consider adding minced garlic or mushrooms. Stir the gravy consistently to avoid lumps.
