A perfect fusion of a juicy burger and a classic grilled cheese, this sandwich is a comforting delight that’s simple to make.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 340g ground beef (80/20 ratio)
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 2 slices American or cheddar cheese (for patties)
  • 8 slices hearty white or sourdough bread
  • 4 tbsp butter or mayo, softened
  • 8 slices cheddar or American cheese (for sandwiches)

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, combine ground beef, salt, pepper, and garlic powder, mixing until just incorporated.
  2. Form the meat into two even-sized patties, slightly larger than your bread slices.
  3. Heat a skillet over medium-high heat and cook the patties for 4-5 minutes per side until reaching your desired doneness.
  4. Top each patty with one slice of cheese for the last minute of cooking to let it melt.
  5. Spread softened butter or mayo on one side of each slice of bread.
  6. Assemble four sandwiches by placing two slices of cheese between two slices of buttered bread.
  7. In a clean skillet, grill the sandwiches over medium heat until golden brown on both sides and cheese is melted.
  8. Place one burger patty inside each of the two grilled cheese sandwiches and serve immediately.
